Someone posted this pic on FB, and it looked familiar enough to catch my interest. It was one of those “’Like’ if you know what this is....” things. I decided to hazard a guess still with my always growing yet limited knowledge. I pretty much said “it looks like a carb, but I’ve only seen small engine carbs”. I guess right, wooooh!!!

Kinja'd!!!

This is definitive proof that I am learning and keeping the knowledge that I’m learning, plus I recognized a part that’s not even on my own car! Idk, I’m just proud of myself, :).

“BACK IN MY DAY WE DIDN’T HAVE E-LEK-TRONIC FUEL INJECTION ALL OUR GAS HAD TO JUST FALL INTO THE ENGINE WITH GRAVITY AND VACUUM THEY DON’T BUILD ‘EM LIKE THEY USED TO I’M AFRAID OF ENGINE PARTS THAT HAVE WIRING ATTACHED TO THEM.”

Holley carb, maybe from a late 60's camaro... No fucking idea how to adjust it though :)

Our engines looked like a dirty plate of vacuum hose spaghetti and we liked it that way!

In 20 years, “in my day, we used gasoline to power cars, not those fancy electronic motors you kids have now.”

For the record, I'm not too sure on the one for the lawn mower either.

Like everyone else... We miss carbs because we only remember when they work well (Webbers FTW!!) and we love injection when it’s cold outside and we are late to work...

Still get along pretty well with my carbed Mini even in winter :)

Our gas and air had to walk uphill in 10 ft of snow just to fall into the engine! And by God we liked it!

Sounds like you were raised with 1980s engines, you young whippersnapper!

I can’t recall having cold start issues with the Willys, but then again the electric choke helps :)

Oh that sure did!! :)

Webbers are magical though... No need for a choke, they just work.

Looks like your standard Holley 4160 center inlet w/manual choke and standard vac secondaries. Probably a 0-3310C 750cfm, but dunno.

is anyone on Oppo out of high school yet? that’s a Holley double-pumper (not sure on specific model.)

Chevy used the same holley carb like the one shown on all the hi performance cars in the late 60's. They were not limited to one brand in the lineup.

Just for the record, anybody who shared this post is a liar. Or a wizard. Those are the only people who can adjust a carb. Unless by adjust they mean turn random adjustment screws until it doesn’t work properly anymore, then I can adjust a carb.

Then I can totally adjust a carb too then.

A good thing to remember with Chevy as even GM, if they can use the same part between modes they will.

Oy. I had the carbs off my bike 3 times before I got it to run. I was seriously doubting my mechanical abilities. It was out of commission for a year! In the end it turned out to be the float levels. I had been adjusting them wrong.

I’ve never ever messed with a carb on a car. My old ‘74 Volvo had mechanical fuel injection.
